It is with great sadness and a bit of anger that I write to you to report that, earlier today, a member of our Local passed away due to COVID-19.

Our membership is reeling and trying to come to terms with this development.

I’m also advised that our member was the first known health care worker to die as a result of COVID-19.

Pray he’s the last.

He was a thirteen-year employee, working in environmental services for Sodexo.

The family has requested that no personal information be shared.

We remain resolute in our pursuit of proper protection for all our frontline healthcare workers.

I wish all of you the best and know that you join with Local 145 and all its members as we remember our friend and colleague and mourn his senseless passing.

In Solidarity
