Hillcrest site of UHN: among the most exploited hospital workers in Ontario

Personal support workers at the Hillcrest site of the University Health Network are paid $16.83 an hour or less and have 3 paid sick days a year. This reactivation hospital takes patients from UHN. The hospital owns the site, but it has contracted management to St. Elizabeth, a community agency. 120 staff work there.

Hillcrest workers kicked off a campaign on Feb. 10, wearing stickers and with a media conference. Advertising, rallies and a video are all planned as part of the campaign to make these workers direct employees of the University Health Network.

18,598 Ontario health care workers have contracted Covid-19 at work

20 of those workers have died

Health care workers have a right to a fit tested N95 mask as outlined in Directive 5 of the Chief Medical Officer of Health.
