Submission to the Ministry of Health (Home Care Division) regarding home care reforms
The Ministry of Health has indicated that in the near term it will focus on 3rd party contracting before moving on to planning the transfer of Home and Community Support Services to Ontario Health Teams (and/or their affiliated organizations). We are particularly disappointed that in the midst of the latest COVID wave, when health care staffing issues have become particularly clear, we still have not received any assurance from government (or Home and Community Care Support Services – HCCSSs) that employment security will be provided in this reform, much less that wages and working conditions will be protected.
