Workplace Violence in Health Care: OCHU-CUPE Member Survey

Workplace Violence in Health Care: OCHU-CUPE Member Survey

You are invited to participate in a research study conducted by the Community Engaged Scholarship Institute and the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at the University of Guelph, and in partnership with the Ontario Council of Hospital Unions – Canadian Union of Public Employees (OCHU-CUPE).

The purpose of this research is to learn about experiences of violence in the workplace for OCHU members, and to better understand what factors may influence the rates and types of violence against health care workers. We are currently seeking OCHU members who are 18 years or older to complete a 10-15-minute anonymous survey.

The decision to participate is completely voluntary, and we will not ask for any information that directly identifies you within the survey. We will collect IP addresses, however, this will not be shared beyond the research team.

If you wish, you may enter a draw to win 1 of 20 gift cards, valued at $50 each. You may also give us your contact information if you are interested in being contacted for future research (e.g., interviews).  To do so, you will be sent to a separate survey, where you will be asked to give us your contact information. You do not have to provide this information, and your contact information will not be linked in any way to your survey responses.

This project has been reviewed by the Research Ethics Board for compliance with federal guidelines for research involving human participants (REB# 2756).

If you have any questions, you may contact the Principal Investigator of the project, Dr. Myrna Dawson at mdawson@uoguelph.ca.
